Hong Kong. WE managed a tour of the New Territories and quietly wound down and took in the wonderful trip we had had. One last and final story. We visited a jewelers in Kowloon, the Sunrise Jewellery Company. Now you might recall the diamonds in Amsterdam. Well Linda did like this one ring. I gallantly said, do you take Australian personal cheques (As we were now living on the last cash from our traveller’s cheques). They did and the ring came home with us. For years later, we would always get a Christmas card from them. The testament to that is that I can recall it like it was yesterday. Then it was back on that Qantas flight, the familiar sound of that aussie accent which we had missed so much and Bundy Rum. Note all British Airways had in the form of rum was white Bacardi.
Postscript. This is a record of a time in our lives. However, once we get back to Brisbane and our stuff out of storage we will recover our diary and make any corrections deemed necessary.
Back home to unpack and then a visit to Stanthorpe to see the family many of whom have now passed but never forgotten
